Met with University of Alabama College of Engineering to initiate partnership with articulation agreements, access to advanced engineering labs and engineering faculty, and co-development of future grants to be accomplished by end of May 2004

Visited Alabama Southern Community College – Thomasville Campus / NSF Center for Paper and Chemical Technology; discussions centered around NSF partnership linkup, curriculum development needs in process technology fields, and curriculum delivery technologies.

Presentation to Alabama Governor’s Commission on Existing Industries
Presented ACETEA partnership concept to Governor’s Commission on Existing Industries; the Commission was seeking ways to support the retention and growth of existing industries in Alabama; the ACETEA presentation was targeted toward high-tech industries, showing how two-year colleges, universities, K-12 systems, private industries, and Alabama state agencies could collaborate to assure a steady stream of qualified technology workers entering those industries over a number of years, relying on industry support for scholarships and cooperative education opportunities.

Alabama Technology Network (ATN) and Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA) Agree to Partner with ACETEA
Met with John Shields, President, Alabama Technology Network (ATN) and Steve Sewell, Executive Vice President, Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA) to establish partnerships with both organizations; agreement was reached on access to resources, cross-linking of websites, and public relations support of ACETEA initiatives

Auburn University Agrees to Partner with ACETEA
Met with Dr. Dan Wilamowski, Director of the Alabama Microelectronics Science and Technology Center (AMSTC) and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Dr. Wilamowski agreed to develop a partnership with ACETEA that would provide access to Auburn engineering labs for ACETEA faculty and students, provide summer workshop and internship opportunities for ACETEA faculty, provide access to ASMTC industry partners to assist in developing curriculum and coop education opportunities for ACETEA students.
